Excerpts from Chapter 19

WOW - What a gift!

"Do you have a minute?" Dick asked Gwen, with a gleam in his eye.

"Sure, come on in and have a seat. What's up?"

"Well, Gwen, as you know, we usually do something special for some our executive's birthdays. Elliot Handler's birthday is coming up next month and I was wondering if you would like to help me with a birthday present for him?"

"Sure, I'd be happy to help out," Gwen said, "I assume that it will involve magic."

"Yes, I've been asked to be the emcee this year; to magically produce his birthday presents. Each department in R&D is creating something special for him. I was wondering if you would be a magician's assistant ... you know, like you did at the magic show?"

"You don't want me to get into or out of any illusions, do you. My hips will never be the same after that last fiasco."

"No, not exactly, but you would magically appear out of a box."

Gwen pushed her chair away from the desk and put her hands in front of her face. ."No. Never."

The story continues.........

Dick made some opening remarks, then picked up the Baby See'n Sigh box and tossed it around a little so that people would notice that it was too light to contain much of anything. The Art Department had done a wonderful job on the paint. All the box needed was a coat of shrink-wrap and it could go straight onto a toy store shelf.

Dick put the box down and stepped in front of it, continuing to extol the importance of Elliot's pet project, the hug-able doll. Gwen slipped silently into the back of the box, exactly as they had planned and rehearsed. "Your first birthday gift is your very own Baby See‘n Sigh, the huggable foam doll."

On cue, Gwen popped straight up out of the box. The audience gasped audibly. Here, before them, was a living, breathing replica of the company's newest baby doll except she had the body of a Barbie and the face of an angel. Gwen stepped gracefully out of the remains of the box and walked seductively toward Elliot Handler's chair. He was agape, staring, in disbelief at the figure approaching. Gwen sat right down on his lap, put her arm around his neck and purred, "Happy Birthday, Elliot," in her sexiest, sultriest voice.
