Golden Roses in Her Hair "Hi Jack," she said, as she entered his office. "Gwen, I'll get right to the point," he said, motioning her to the sofa. "How many people are you planning on for your wedding reception." "Oh, about 25. We are just having a very small wedding." "Where are you getting married?" "There is a beautiful estate in Palos Verdes that has a lovely chapel by the sea." "Are you having a reception afterwards?" "Yes, either at the estate, or at a French restaurant nearby that is a favorite of ours. Why do you ask?" Does he want to be invited to the wedding, she wondered. He's never accepted any invitations to my dinner parties. "Gwen, I'd like to offer my estate for the wedding reception. You have been such a wonderful hostess, besides, your excellent work at Mattel should be rewarded. I'd like to keep the reception down to about 500 guests, if that's all right with you." |
